Joggle Release Notes

0.9.8 - 04/02/09 - Create, Share, Public Page

  • Create - streamlined the create process. Choose a theme, add media, provide a name, preview and save. You can move back and forth between steps, change themes, re-order and delete items in the drop well. You can toggle the drop wells between list and thumbnail views. You can change the thumbnail that represents the creation.
  • Edit Creation - clicking 'edit creation' on the View Control Bar opens the new Create drawer in edit mode.
  • Share - there are options to allow viewers to subscribe to your shares and to download from your shares.
  • Share Email - the beginnings of a simple address book are present. You can save commonly used email addresses and select them via a check box. NOTE - the addresses are *not currently saved* to the server. This will be corrected in the next release.
  • Share Email confirmation - if you send an email share to multiple addresses, you will now receive only one confirmation email from Joggle listing all of the addresses to which the share was sent.
  • Public Page - you can now customize the background color of the header and of the main viewing area.
  • Public Page URL - you can now provide a Public Name to be used in your Public Page URL (instead of the string of numbers currently provided). Open My Account (in the bottom corner of the window) and click on the Account Info tab. There you can edit the Public Name field. Then click on the Summary tab to see your new Public Page URL.
Other changes:
  • Nav Bar - your first name appears under the Joggle logo.
  • Change Password - new text explains that the URL in the change password email can be used only one time.
  • Documents - the document name was frequently lost during downloads; this should be corrected now.
  • Info Pane - some metadata fields can now be edited.
  • Video - the file name no longer appears in the viewing area of shared videos.
  • Tags - the beginnings of a Tag Dictionary have been implemented; see Known Problems for more information.
  • View Pane - a List View is supported for all media as well as the Thumbnail View. Toggle between them using the icons on the View Control Bar.
  • UI - the mute button on the View Control Bar does not affect video sound.
Known Problems:
  • Public Page Preview action - this allows you to preview an item appearing on the Nav Bar before you decide to place it on your public page. However, the Add to Public Page button on the preview pane is not working.
  • Change Password in My Account - the edit button is not working; you can change your password from the Login page.
  • Tag - this feature is in transition. In this release you cannot just type the tag that you want to apply; you must first Edit to create the tag that you wish to use, then click Done. However, the tag is not remembered in the dictionary yet. You will need to 'create' it again if you want to use it again. Try tagging multiple files at once to minimize this problem.
  • Tag Dictionary and Address Book entries are not being saved to the server. This should be corrected in the next release.

0.9.5 - 02/11/09 - Create, Share, Public Page

  • Create - existing creations no longer play while you are creating a new one
  • Share - support document folders; play video more than once
  • Share - viewers can now subscribe to your shares (email and embed)
  • Public Page - sorting and ordering problems have been addressed
  • Nav Bar - Media Folders and Smart Views have been combined into one group immediately following Browse by Location.
Other changes:
  • Change Password - new graphics and error message text
  • Documents - common documents should now open in a browser when clicked on; otherwise the browser should offer to download and save them to your local disk.
  • Music - album art fix
  • Subscriptions - play whenever clicked on, regardless of the media tab (like creations)
  • UI - dragging music or documents into a folder now provides a count of the files added
  • UI - media tabs remember the last display of that media type (not the last creation played)
Known Problems:
  • We are working on a better way to edit your creations.
  • Downloaded documents do not always get the correct name (will be fixed in next release).

0.9.4 - 01/20/09 - Sharing and Documents

This release focuses on Sharing and Document support
  • My Collections has been renamed My Creations
  • Creations - new multi-media display format
  • Creations - documents can be shared with the new Media List format
  • Creations - better support for music and video in same creation
  • Creations and Folders can be dragged onto the Public Page
  • Public Page title and description can now be edited
  • Public Page nav bar shows new creations and folders, and in sorted order
  • Items on the Public Page can be reordered
Other changes:
  • miscellaneous Public Page UI issues have been addressed
  • Most documents can be viewed when clicked on (they must be opened using a local application or browser)
Known Problems:
  • Media downloads from Public Page and shares are still not supported
  • There are still problems with some video files
  • It should be easier to edit Creations

0.9.3 - 12/23/08 - New Public Page support

This release provides better support for creating and managing public pages:
  • The Public Page icon has moved to the top of the Navigation Bar, to the right of the Documents Tab
  • Clicking on the Public Page icon opens the Public Page Studio View in the View Pane. Collections and folders can be dragged from the nav bar directly onto the public page and arranged there as desired. The View button opens the public page in a new browser window as others will see it. The Remove button will remove an object from your Public Page. The Copy URL button provides the external link to your public page.
  • Users can now change their email address in the My Accounts section.

Known Problems:
There are a number of Public Page issues remaining to be fixed. We felt that it was important to make these new changes available as quickly as possible. We are working on fixes which should be available shortly after the New Year.
  • Items cannot be re-arranged on the Public Page. Newly added items appear at the end.
  • Once you click on the Public Page tab, the items in the Nav bar do not change. If you create new collections or folders, they will not appear until you close and re-open the application.
  • Collections on the Public Page nav bar are not sorted.
  • Viewers cannot download files from your Public Page.
  • Some migrated video files get errors when attempting to play.
  • Some migrated media files appear in the wrong media application.
  • Documents do not display when clicked upon, both in the app and via Copy URL.
  • Various UI issues.

0.9.2 - 12/09/08 - MyFabrik migration

This release provides support for MyFabrik migrated accounts:
  • files and folders - appear under the My Joggle location
  • public page - appears in the nav bar; drag collections or folders on top of it to add them to your public page; existing URLs to your MyFabrik public page will display your Joggle public page.
  • embeds - MyFabrik embeds are now supported by Joggle; users should not have to change them
  • document support - a fourth media tab appears at the top to support documents (media other than photo, music, video)

  • some UI changes and bug fixes
  • updated support pages
