The same familiar functions that you used in MyFabrik are waiting for you in Joggle.

Look and Feel

We have changed the user interface somewhat to better organize the new features that Joggle provides. Here is a diagram of the main Joggle window with its key components identified. You can find a description of each of them here.

You should be able to find all that you need, but in order to be sure, we've provided this Quick Cross Reference Guide so that you can go straight to the Joggle features that you want first.

Files

The first thing that you probably want to know is, "Where are my files?"
If you look on the left in the Navigation Bar, you will find a heading named Browse by Location. There you will see your My Joggle location. Under it you will find a MyFabrik folder. Click to highlight that folder and all of your files of the current media type will appear in the View Pane to the right.

Folders

The next question you might ask is, "What about my folders?"
If you had folders of this media type in MyFabrik, then a triangle will appear in front of MyFabrik. Click on it and your folders will appear beneath it in the Nav Bar. A triangle will appear in front of every folder that contains other sub-folders. Folders without a triangle contain no sub-folders; if you highlight any of them you will see their contents in the View Pane.

MyFabrik Folder is Read-Only

We maintained your MyFabrik folder structure so that you would find your files in their familiar places. However, since nested folders are not supported in Joggle, we have had to make your MyFabrik folder structure read-only. That means that you cannot add or move files around in your MyFabrik folders. All new file uploads will appear in your My Joggle location.

Aggregation

What is slightly different in Joggle is the aggregation view. When you click on a Joggle object - location, folder, collection - Joggle displays all of the media in that object at all levels. It is somewhat like the Detail View in MyFabrik, but instead of displaying as a list, you see the media thumbnails. You can combine aggregation views with the use of the Show, Sort By, and Group By options to discover new ways of accessing, viewing, and managing your media. This frees you from the need to be constantly aware of "where it is", and allows you to find and use "what you want, when you want it."

Joggle Folders

Because Joggle provides aggregation views, it does not provide nested folders. That is, you cannot create a folder within a folder. This may be different from what you are used to doing in MyFabrik. We think that you will find aggregation a powerful mechanism for managing your files. Do let us hear your thoughts by using our feedback form.

If you click on My Joggle, you see all your on-line media, including your MyFabrik files. If you click on your MyFabrik folder you will see just your MyFabrik media. However, at the moment there is not an easy way to see files in My Joggle which are not from MyFabrik. Until we address this you can try the following:

  • Use the Find button and select a date after the migration date.
  • Use the Tag button to give all your MyFabrik media a common tag (e.g. 'myfabrik'); then use the Find button with the Tag 'is not' option.
  • Use the Group By Date option.
